Los Angeles-based artist Bernard Shay Gomez has unveiled his debut EP ‘Secrets, Lies, and Whiskey’, a deeply personal collection of songs reflecting on a transformative year marked by loss, growth, and rediscovery. The five-track project, running 14 minutes and 36 seconds, offers listeners an intimate journey through the artist’s experiences.
The EP has already gained traction on streaming platforms, with standout tracks “Whiskey Neat” and “Undefined” garnering significant plays respectively. The project also features the relatable “Sea and Sky,” vulnerable “On my own,” and the closing track “30,” each contributing to the EP’s narrative of personal evolution.
“This project means so much to me—it’s a reflection of a year filled with loss, growth, and rediscovery,” Gomez shares. “I’ve learned that losing the people you love most, even after they’ve hurt you, forces you to confront yourself and rebuild. I’ll never be the same, but I know I’ll keep loving and moving forward.”
Born in Kolkata, India, and having spent his college years in New York before settling in Los Angeles, Gomez’s journey into music began during his most challenging moments. “I started writing songs as a way to process my thoughts and reflect on my experiences,” he explains. “Over time, I discovered that creative expression not only brings me immense joy but also helps me navigate life’s most challenging moments.”

The EP’s title isn’t just a catchy combination of words – each element carries deep personal meaning for the artist. As Gomez reveals: “Secrets—because I’ve been told I keep them. Lies—because I’ve been accused of lying by omission, though sometimes it was the only way I knew to survive in some environments. Those lies helped me survive, but they no longer serve me. Whiskey—because it was always my go-to drink at the bar, and let’s be honest, some of these thoughts were likely shaped by a whiskey-soaked haze.” With a hint of humor, he mentions his drink of choice has since changed, reflecting the kind of personal growth that echoes throughout the EP. The title itself reads like a confessional – three words that capture the essence of Gomez’s journey toward authenticity, setting the stage for the raw honesty found in each track.
Looking ahead, Gomez is already exploring new creative territories, including plans to write a one-act musical. “While there are no immediate shows lined up, I’m definitely looking forward to performing in the future and sharing my work live. I’ve also got some new releases coming down the pipeline, so stay tuned for more!”
‘Secrets, Lies, and Whiskey’ is now available on all major streaming platforms. Follow Gomez on Instagram to stay updated on his creative journey, which he describes as “just the beginning—a glimpse into my world. If you want to know more, stay with me. There’s so much more to come—or at least I hope so.”
