Gabriel Goodie Wants to Bring the UKF 2010s Back to Life

Gabriel Goodie didn’t set out to make a career of this. It started as a hobby, messing around in FruityLoops and whatever other software was floating around in the early 2010s. That’s the same starting line as basically every bedroom producer of that era, most of whom never got past their own laptop speakers. Goodie just didn’t stop. He kept releasing music over the years, under different names, in different styles, and somewhere along the way the hobby turned into a direction.

His own description of the music puts it in terms electronic fans will recognize right away: a fresh take on what Pendulum could be, and what Bonobo needs to be. That’s a strange pair to pull from. Pendulum works in loud, adrenaline-spiking drum and bass, and Bonobo lives in warm, downtempo territory. Goodie’s aiming for the gap between them, and that’s the part that makes him worth a listen.

His influences reach past the electronic world too. He grew up on jazz because of his dad, a Philadelphia kid raised on the stuff, and says you’ll catch it in his softer singles. Nujabes and Pendulum both turn up in there, one a jazz-and-hip-hop guy, the other more of a structural blueprint. But he doesn’t just want to copy his heroes. He’s paying respect, he says, and then going his own way. Lots of producers say that. Fewer actually pull it off, so the real question is whether the catalog holds up.

There’s now something concrete to judge it against. The Dark Matter EP landed on August 6, 2026, five tracks that run just under fifteen minutes total. It’s short, which suits the kind of quick-hit energy he’s after. “Dark Matter,” “Burn It All,” and “Drag Me to the Drums” are pulling the most attention off the record, and his standalone single “Glitch Centric” has caught on too. Together they’re the clearest look yet at what he’s actually chasing rather than just naming.

The bigger goal isn’t about any single track, though. It’s the UKF-era 2010s, that stretch when drum and bass and dubstep were everywhere, and Goodie treats it like something to revive rather than something to miss. His message to listeners is basically that the music they love isn’t going anywhere. The way he sees it, this is only the beginning.

For now, Gabriel Goodie has his full attention. He’s got other projects going, but he wants everything pointed at this one. What’s next is a mystery he’s keeping to himself. “Surprises, surprises” is all he offers, plus a standing invitation to play just about anywhere. Hometown Philadelphia is on the list, along with Miami, Manhattan, and Southern California, and so is a lineup of names he wants to share a stage with: LTJ Bukem, Panda, Goldie, Deadmau5, Kaskade, Tycho, Bonobo, Sub Focus. He’d take a metal show too, and only kind of sounds like he’s kidding.

Which circles back to the thing he most wants people to hear: anyone could be Gabriel Goodie. Stay consistent, take the risk, and it pays off. That’s the whole pitch. You can do this too.
