Ranya, thanks for making time for this discussion. Could you tell us how you first got into boxing?
Thank you for having me. My love for movement and sport began early, but boxing caught my full attention at 15. It quickly grew from a fun hobby to a burning passion as I dove deep into the discipline and science behind the sport. By 18, I was a certified personal trainer and soon after, I was competing at the national level in the light-welterweight category.
What drove you to start ’12 Rounds’ and ‘The Fittest Diary’?
Both projects grew from my deep-seated love for boxing and fitness. I wanted to go beyond the conventional gym setup and create environments that foster real growth and learning. “12 Rounds” is designed to mold champions with resilience, while “The Fittest Diary” aims to help people lead healthier lives through customized fitness programs.
How has boxing influenced you, both in your personal life and professionally?
Boxing has deeply ingrained in me the values of discipline, focus, and resilience—traits that prove essential in and out of the ring. These principles have fundamentally shaped my approach to life’s challenges and how I set my goals, helping me grow personally and professionally. As a coach and mentor, I use these lessons daily, guiding my actions and decisions, and I strive to pass on the same strength and clarity to those I teach. This sport hasn’t just made me a better athlete; it has transformed me into a more grounded and determined individual—which I love.
Can you describe some of the challenges you’ve faced in your career?
Like any athlete, I’ve faced my fair share of challenges, from overcoming injuries to battling self-doubt. Staying focused on my goals and maintaining a disciplined training regimen have been key to performing at my best. Adapting to different competitors and continuously refining my techniques are also part of my ongoing journey.
What is the core philosophy of your training methods at 12 Rounds?
At 12 Rounds, we focus on holistic development. It’s not solely about physical strength; we prioritize mental toughness, strategic thinking, and continuous improvement. I believe in cultivating a mindset that integrates the body and mind to face any challenge, whether in the ring or in life.
Looking forward, what do you hope to achieve in boxing and what impact do you want to have?
Even though I’ve made a name for myself in boxing, I’m nowhere near done. I’m constantly looking to compete more, push my limits further, and learn from every match I fight. My goal goes beyond winning titles; I want to inspire others to see the value in discipline and hard work. Boxing isn’t just about physical strength—it’s about personal growth, health, and resilience. It’s a powerful tool for self-improvement and demonstrating determination. Every day, I’m motivated to show that no matter what we achieve, there’s always space to grow and improve.
What advice would you offer to someone just starting out in boxing?
When starting out, it’s crucial to master the basics and establish a solid foundation. Take your time and appreciate the process; rushing won’t do you any favors. Remember, boxing isn’t just a test of physical strength—it challenges your mental toughness just as much. Be patient with your progress, maintain a consistent routine, and above all, find joy in every step of your journey. Embrace the small victories along the way and the personal growth that comes with each training session. This mindset will not only improve your skills but also enhance your overall experience in the sport.
