Who is MK XYZ?
MK XYZ, previously known as Soul Floetry, is a half-Filipino and half-Black recording artist. MK is short for Makaila, her real name. The singer was born and raised in Jacksonville but moved to North Carolina when she was older. Born to parents from diverse backgrounds and cultures, she was always culturally polished.
As a queer person of color, MK XYZ believes that it is very important to have a voice and a platform. She doesn’t let negative comments get her down and encourage her followers to do the same, that is, to find a voice and feel free with whoever they are.
She is currently based in Florida and signed with Epic Records label.

When asked why she chose the name MK XYZ, the singer replied that it was more authentic. It was like embracing a new identity while leaving the immature Soul Floetry behind. The XYZ in her name stands for the unknown. The unknown force that can’t be described or labeled.
Her influences are more old school. MK XYZ grew up listening to Beyonce, Rihanna, Missy Elliott, and more. She also cites Pharell as one of her biggest inspirations, whom she has looked up to as a mentor.

The rising artist broke records and won millions of hearts with her recent collaboration with G-Eazy. The song was titled “Pass It,” where she showcased her energetic vibe and remarkable dancing skills.
