Mona Augustin is a luminous thread in the vibrant tapestry of the world’s music and art scene, radiating passion, hope, and brilliance. His narrative is not merely about talent and creativity; it’s a profound saga of resilience and unwavering commitment to humanitarian causes. With his multifaceted artistry serving as the medium, Augustin has emerged as a voice for the voiceless, a defender of the marginalized, and a beacon of hope for countless individuals.

Mona Augustin, a Haitian American artist of remarkable versatility, embodies the spirit of a true Renaissance man. As a singer, musician, arranger, lyricist, sound engineer, and painter, Augustin does not merely perform or create; he lives through his art, advocating tirelessly for the oppressed, including children, widows, orphans, and the marginalized. His work is a testament to his belief in the power of art to enact social change, to comfort, and to empower.

Augustin’s journey into the realm of art and music began early, penning his first song at the tender age of 20. His unique blend of charisma and talent quickly established him as a beloved figure in Haiti and the Caribbean. His reputation as a captivating musician has since crossed oceans, earning him acclaim in Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, and the United States. With a repertoire of over 100 original songs and compilations, Augustin has dedicated his musical career to addressing social and sentimental themes, capturing the hearts of audiences with his beautiful voice and expressive melodies.

However, Mona Augustin’s contributions extend far beyond the stage and the canvas. Following the devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti, he has been at the forefront of efforts to aid his compatriots. His involvement in the creation and development of Mozayik, a community project aimed at providing a fresh start for 126 families, highlights his commitment to leveraging his art for social impact. Through concerts across the United States, complete with a 30-minute documentary film, Augustin shares the stories of Mozayik’s residents, garnering support and raising awareness of their plight.

A notable highlight of Augustin’s career is his hit song “State Fault,” which resonated deeply with listeners for its melodic beauty and poignant critique of governmental indifference. The song serves as a rallying cry for social justice, urging a reevaluation of societal norms and the way we support the underprivileged.

Supporting Mona Augustin is more than just appreciating his art; it’s a call to action. By purchasing his CDs, paintings, or other merchandise, fans and advocates alike contribute directly to his mission of aiding those in extreme poverty, with 10% of all music sales going to the non-profit organization, MOZAYIK.

As we anticipate an in-depth interview with the artist in the next issue of HT Haiti Tribune Magazine, it’s clear that Mona Augustin’s journey is far from over. His enduring dedication to his craft and his advocacy work make him an artist truly deserving of support from all quarters. In a world often clouded by despair, Augustin’s story and efforts shine as a reminder of the transformative power of art and compassion.
