As the gorgeous, oriental sonic drifts draw you in, you don’t know what to expect until, blam! “Blood Under The Bridge” reveals itself to be a neat slice of edgy alt-rock. But even once it reveals itself, the song still isn’t quite what you might have expected, built as it is from deftly chosen musical lines.
The result is a song with all the weight and groove of the rock and roll world but incorporates much more.
There is a pop accessibility found here, vocal prowess that would be equally at home topping off the most eloquent of soul numbers and no small amount of staccato blues moves.
And it does all that within a package that leaves you no doubt that you have just witnessed the most of-the-moment and cutting-edge alternative rock band.
But the most stand-out aspect of the song (amongst many stand-out aspects) is SAVARRE’s ability to weave a narrative and tell a story.
Many bands forget that music is all about communication, so it is extraordinary to come across that rarest of things…a song that takes you by the hand and takes you on a journey – sonically, lyrically, expressively, and emotively.
