The Music for Media Conference brought together global creators and industry leaders to explore new opportunities in sync licensing during COVID-19.
At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when live shows halted and many artists faced uncertainty, Sync Con 2022 became a lifeline for musicians seeking new ways to monetize their creativity. The Music for Media Conference, held virtually on April 23–24, 2022, brought together powerhouse voices from film, television, advertising, and gaming to teach creators how to thrive in the evolving world of sync licensing.
The event drew over 1,200 attendees worldwide, marking it as one of the largest online gatherings for music-for-media professionals that year. The conference opened with a keynote by Jen Malone, 2x Emmy-nominated Music Supervisor known for her work on Euphoria and Atlanta. Malone shared an honest look at the changing landscape of music for visual media and how creators can adapt and succeed.
Other standout sessions featured Nick Warner, Director of Originals Marketing at STARZ, on Leveraging Storytelling in Marketing for Originals and Promos, and Ted Kocher, Music Supervisor at PlayStation, on Music for Video Games: The Impact of Music in Storytelling and Marketing. Additional speakers from Netflix, Riot Games, and DDB France provided invaluable insight into the future of music across all media.

A highlight of the conference was the Sync Community Session, led by Lava Hong, Senior Music Coordinator at Trailer Park, known for her work on blockbuster campaigns like Wonder Woman 1984 and The Batman. Powered by Sync Con’s Sync Community, the world’s #1 and largest music licensing e-learning hub and online training platform, the session equipped artists with practical tools to connect with the sync world and succeed in licensing their music for TV, film, advertising, and video games.
With over 10,000 members and half a million users worldwide, Sync Community continues to help artists navigate and excel in the ever-evolving sync industry year-round.
