Hong Kong, June 2026 – Director Emil H Jonsvik has made history for Swedish cinema, as his feature film GODMODE_ Digital Murder has been awarded the Grand Jury Prize: Golden Petrel Award for Best Artistic Exploration in Macao and Hong Kong.
This marks the first time a Swedish production has been honored with this specific distinction, cementing the film’s position at the pinnacle of the international film scene.
A Historic Achievement
Presented in an exclusive, historic retrospective alongside the essential works of global cinematic masters, GODMODE_ Digital Murder was selected to bridge the gap between classic auteur cinema and the modern digital frontier.
Recognition in this setting—shared with industry icons including Jackie Chan and global superstar Xiao Zhan—establishes a new, permanent footprint for Swedish film in Asia.
“To stand alongside these legends and receive the Grand Jury Prize is a definitive moment,” says director Emil H Jonsvik. “The jury’s recognition of our work as a bridge between the masters of film history and today’s digital reality is the ultimate validation. We have officially closed the circle and stepped into the canon of international film history.”

A Global Winning Streak
The success in Macau and Hong Kong solidifies a record-breaking international trajectory:

- Winner: Best Sci-Fi Feature Film – Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
- Winner: Best Film & Best Director – Berlin
- Winner: Best International Feature Film – Vancouver

Following this win, the film moves to Italy this June for an exclusive special screening in Varese. The event acts as the official prelude to the main gala in September, where the film is in competition for the Golden Swan (Cigno d’Oro).

Championing New Voices
Beyond the critical success, GODMODE_ Digital Murder functions as a deliberate challenge to the industry status quo. In an era dominated by algorithmic content, Jonsvik’s work serves as a platform for the “new voices” who possess the courage to push the boundaries of visual storytelling.
“My mission is to empower the next generation to break free from conventional formulas,” says Jonsvik. “By proving that a bold, rhythmic, and uncompromising vision can win at the highest level, we are paving the way for future filmmakers to own their unique voice.”
With its distinct, rhythmic narrative and uncompromising aesthetic, GODMODE_ Digital Murder has established itself as the most significant Nordic cultural phenomenon on the global stage this year, Dante, Festival Director.
