Matos’s entry into music production began almost serendipitously, fresh out of high school nine years ago. With no formal training but a burning desire to express himself, he found an old laptop, a relic acquired from the less fortunate souls of his neighborhood. On this laptop, he discovered FL Studio, a digital audio workstation that would become his canvas, school, and sanctuary. Matos is a self-taught artist, mastering everything from beat making to engineering, from melody composition to lyrical skill and vocal cadence. His journey is a striking example of how passion and self-education can lead to mastery, even without conventional training.

Among his discography, tracks like “Broken,” “4+8,” “Dios,” and “High As Hell” stand out not just for their musicality but for their storytelling. “Broken,” his latest single released on February 15th, is a testament to Matos’s evolution as an artist. The track weaves a rich blend of guitar strums and a melodic vocal intro, complemented by Matos’s signature lyrical depth and signature cadence. The song is a journey in itself, encapsulating the essence of pain, love, loss, and the sheer resilience of the human spirit.

Matos’s music is a reflection of his life, a series of snapshots that capture the essence of human experience in its rawest form. Through his music, he seeks to convey a message of survival and resilience. “Through everything, I’m still alive,” he says, a simple yet profound statement that echoes the sentiments of his listeners who find solace in his music. His songs are not just compositions but living embodiments of his memories, experiences, and the indomitable will to keep moving forward.

The New York City native has cultivated a significant following, not just locally but globally, through platforms like Instagram, United Masters, and YouTube. These platforms have not only been instrumental in showcasing his work but have also provided a space for him to connect with his audience on a personal level, sharing his journey, his inspirations, and the stories behind his music.

Andy “may18” Matos’s musical path is a compelling narrative of transformation. It’s a story of finding beauty in the broken, of turning pain into poetry, and of the undying human spirit that thrives on expression and connection. As Matos continues to evolve and expand his catalog, his audience eagerly await the next chapter in his journey, to dive deeper into the emotional landscapes that he so masterfully paints with his music.

In a world where authenticity often takes a backseat to commercial appeal, Andy “may18” Matos stands out as a beacon of genuine artistic expression. His music is not just heard; it is felt, a pulsating, living NYC entity that continues to inspire, heal, and unite.
