Some albums arrive quickly. Others take their time, waiting for the right moment, the right collaborators, and the right story to tell. For WildGaves, the Mexican electronic producer behind Gravity Stars, this debut album represents the latter. It’s a project built on patience, shaped by years of smaller wins, and released only when everything finally aligned.
The album dropped November 21 on Stardust Records, spanning 10 tracks and just under 34 minutes of melodic, emotionally charged electronic music. For WildGaves, it’s the culmination of a journey that started back in June 2020 when he first began producing.
In just over four years, the producer has gone from bedroom experiments to securing support from heavyweights like KSHMR, Steve Aoki, and Nicky Romero. Getting noticed by Spinnin’ Records, Protocol Recordings, and Dharma is no small feat for an independent artist. Neither is landing features on BBC Music Introducing and iHeartRadio.
But the real story behind Gravity Stars is more personal than any industry milestone. According to WildGaves, the album’s concept crystallized after seeing one of his longtime favorite artists perform live, someone he’d been listening to since 2018. The experience triggered such intense nostalgia that it became the album’s emotional foundation. The producer wanted to blend that feeling with his own style and the influences that had helped him through difficult times.
The result is a project that reads like a reunion of sorts. WildGaves managed to bring together more than five different EDM communities into a single album, a feat that started as a distant dream back in 2021 when he first tried to get signed to Stardust. It took until 2023 for that door to open, and now he has an entire album on the label.
The collaborator list reads like a who’s who of melodic EDM vocals. Aiden Somerville, Baiden Holland, Malin Horsevik, Laryssa Vachon, Moonly, SUNHO, Tobias Ward, and Tom Platts all contributed to the project. WildGaves has been open about how much these partnerships meant, describing the featured artists as his best friends in music and vocalists he’d always hoped to work with someday.
For those unfamiliar with WildGaves’ sound, think melodic EDM with an emotional core. Sweeping builds, nostalgic hooks, the kind of tracks that feel cinematic without being overwrought. His influences tell the story clearly: Tobu, Jim Yosef, Itro, Alex Skrindo, Distrion, Diviners, Janji, Marcus Mouya, OLWIK, William EKH, K-391, and Alan Walker. More recently, GRYFFIN has entered the rotation. If any of those names ring a bell, you already have a good sense of what Gravity Stars delivers.
WildGaves isn’t just chasing the sound of his heroes, though. He’s already proven he can stand alongside them. He won Tobu’s remix contest for “Candyland,” earning an official remix credit on what’s considered one of the best EDM songs of all time. That kind of recognition from the artists who inspired you doesn’t happen by accident.
Tracks like “Feel Good,” “Best Is Yet To Come,” and “You Remind Me” have been getting early traction with listeners. The album is now streaming on Spotify, complete with artwork by Anxo Vizcaino and Arsacre.
There’s something to be said for not rushing. WildGaves could have put out an album sooner, but Gravity Stars exists because he waited until the pieces fit. The collaborators he wanted, the label he’d been chasing, the sound he’d spent years refining. It all came together when it was supposed to. Sometimes the debut that takes longest to arrive is the one that was always meant to be made.
