Canadian punk rock artist Hot Apollo is preparing to unleash his most ambitious project yet with the December 26, 2025 release of “Against The Odds Because We’re Gods.” The album marks a significant shift for the artist, representing his first release backed by a comprehensive marketing strategy through SelfMadeRecords L.L.C. and Earache Records EDD.
Hot Apollo will kick off his album campaign next week with the July 4th release of “We’re Hot Apollo,” the lead single that will offer fans a taste of what’s coming. It’s the first of three singles planned ahead of the full album drop, with “Slayance” following on September 2nd and “Never Stay Down” arriving November 4th. Two music videos will accompany the singles, dropping August 1st and October 31st respectively.
“The title’s been a kind of mantra floating around my head for ages,” explains Hot Apollo when asked about the album’s bold name. “I knew I didn’t want it for the first album, and I always knew what the second album was going to be. It felt right for this one, which has a bunch of songs on it that go fairly far afield of the comfort zone I had when I started this band.”
This creative departure represents a natural progression for Hot Apollo, whose sound draws comparisons to punk icons like Iggy Pop while incorporating elements reminiscent of Talking Heads’ cerebral approach and The Cure’s emotional depth. Hot Apollo’s previous work includes fan favorites like “Laser Days,” “Gwen Stacy,” and “Baby Lord,” tracks that have helped establish his reputation in the punk scene.
What sets “Against The Odds Because We’re Gods” apart from Hot Apollo’s earlier work isn’t just the music – it’s the approach. Unlike their debut “Invented Music,” which had to establish the band’s identity within familiar territory, this third album explores uncharted creative ground.
“As our first LP, Invented Music had to lean heavier into that comfort zone I mentioned, even though I’d progressed beyond it by then, because it had to make a statement of what we’re about,” Hot Apollo reflects. “This is the third, so it felt a bit freer to dip into some different areas.”

The album’s nine tracks showcase this expanded range. Opening with “Slayance,” the record moves through songs like “Beltane,” “Priorities,” and “Gjallarbru” before landing on the title track “We’re Hot Apollo.” The collection concludes with “Never Stay Down,” suggesting themes of resilience that align with the album’s defiant title.
All songs were performed and written by Hot Apollo, with lyrics by Jaymes Buckman. The stripped-down credits reflect Hot Apollo’s hands-on approach to his craft, maintaining creative control while partnering with established industry players for distribution.
Perhaps the most telling change for Hot Apollo isn’t musical but strategic. “It’s the first one that has any release strategy behind it,” he explains. “I put everything I have into everything I do, and that works very well creatively, but as one person I could only do so much to make sure people knew about those first two albums when I put them out.”
Having additional support has been transformative for the project. “I’ve had a few more people in my corner to ease that load on this one, which I’m thankful for, so it feels like this era is the one where people know what Hot Apollo is.”
This increased visibility comes at a time when punk rock continues to find new audiences across streaming platforms. Hot Apollo maintains an active presence on major services including Spotify, Apple Music, and Pandora, while engaging directly with fans through social media via Instagram and Facebook.
The timing of the December 26th release date is unconventional, dropping the day after Christmas when many artists avoid major releases. However, the choice fits Hot Apollo’s independent spirit and could help the album stand out during a typically quiet period for new music.
For fans wanting more Hot Apollo content, his YouTube channel offers a mix of behind-the-scenes videos, while SoundCloud has a myriad of additional tracks beyond the main releases.
“Against The Odds Because We’re Gods” promises to be Hot Apollo’s most fully realized statement yet. With its expanded sonic palette and strategic rollout, the album positions Hot Apollo for his biggest audience to date while staying true to the raw energy that first put him on the punk rock map.
The album arrives December 26, 2025, through SelfMadeRecords L.L.C. and Earache Records EDD, available across all major streaming platforms.
