When Michigan natives Eric Phillips and Brandon Green aqcuired Phillips Sewer and Septic and received funding for the company in 2012, the two high-school best friends knew they had hit the jackpot.
The company, already a well-established name within its community, has significantly increased its volume of revenue and services after the duo’s acquisition.
Phillips explains that Phillips Sewer and Septic already had a well-entrenched number of loyal customers and staff, thanks to the previous owners, so the duo took it from there to where it is today.
The company currently offers services such as septic cleaning, portable restrooms, and drainage clearing.
Bolstering Acquisitions
After the duo’s takeover of the company, their first major acquisition occurred in 2015. This was in the form of a portable sanitation company called Journey Pods, located in nearby Detroit, Michigan. The company already possessed two service trucks and 200 portable restrooms in its inventory.
So the folks at Journey Pods’ approached Phillips and Hood to buy the company, and fortunately, they found their new branch manager in the form of Eric James, a restroom technician.
Later in the same year, the new owners of Phillips Sewer and Septic also bought the holdings of another restroom-rental company called, Hunt & Soil Sanitary Services. This added 200 more restrooms, two service trucks, and a septic vacuum truck. Next, in 2016, the duo purchased G & L Porta Pottys located in Kalamazoo. The company had 250 restrooms, three service trucks, and a bonus of customer accounts.
This series of acquisitions significantly emboldened the two business partners and made it easier to expand their services into other service sectors.
An Expanding Armada
As Phillips and Hood expanded, so did their fleet of service trucks, trailers, restrooms, and other types of equipment. This was thanks to the significant acquisitions they made earlier and investing in buying newer and better pieces of equipment.
Their vacuum trucks are built by well-known American companies such as Kenworth International, Western Star chassis, Erickson Tank & Pump, Imperial Industries, etc.
On top of that, the duo has also invested in buying a 10,000-gallon tanker trailer built by Polar Tank Trailer and a trash-screening machine by ScreenO Systems.
All-Inclusive Service
Over the years, the company has grown thus far because of the wide range of services and products they provide to its customers.
Not to mention that acquiring multiple different companies significantly bolstered their earnings prospect. Meaning that they now have numerous viral revenue streams to allocate their resources to whichever sector their business needs it the most.
Their technicians and other workers are also given considerable training skills to provide different customer services while saving cost and time.
Time factor and a professional work attitude towards not saying “NO” to any work have gone other vital contributors that have played a part.
Roadmap For The Future
Phillips and Hood are confident that the road lying ahead of them is positive.
The two proud owners of Phillips Sewer and Septic admit that they will jump at any business prospect that might come their way. At the same time, stating that more acquisitions are on the way if given a chance, but there is a catch to it.
They reveal that they will only venture into the already existing markets that they are in and will not towards unfamiliar territories.
