Hailing from Sydney, drill rapper Asta Anzû is bound to carve out a place for himself in Australia’s growing hip-hop scene. From a Lebanese background, Asta Anzû brings a fresh and distinctive voice to the Australian rap landscape. As the founder of his label, Devils Sons Records, he’s embraced the independent grind, showcasing his entrepreneurial drive and relentless ambition.

Interestingly, Asta Anzû’s introduction to music wasn’t planned; it started during the COVID-19 lockdown. With no grand aspirations of becoming a rapper, he found himself turning to music as an outlet—a way to pass the time. But what began as a casual escape soon transformed into something much more serious. From DIY bedroom recordings to professional studio sessions, Anzû quickly become obsessed with the process of creating music.

The Sydney-based artist emphasizes creating catchy lyrics and addictive hooks that feel tailor-made for anyone looking to amp up their energy. But don’t mistake him for just a hype man. Beneath the hard-hitting tracks, Anzû’s lyrics touch on real-life struggles and personal experiences, weaving in introspective moments that resonate with listeners on a deeper level. This ability to balance both the heavy and the heartfelt sets him apart in Australia’s growing rap scene.

Anzû’s influences are broad and eclectic, spanning from the old-school legends like Tupac and Biggie, whose storytelling ability and raw lyricism left a lasting impact. One other idol is 50 Cent, known for his ear-worm hooks, whose career trajectory offers a blueprint for Asta Anzû’s own ambitions. More recently, he’s drawn inspiration from Drake’s versatility and the catchy flows of drill artists like YA Goddy and Bizzy Banks.

His catalog is rapidly expanding, with standout tracks like “Talking Facts,” “Cash Out,” “Catch An Opp,” and “Gangsta” making noise across streaming platforms. His latest release, “Lonely At The Top,” featuring American artist Maly, dropped on October 15th, clocking in at a tight 2 minutes and 58 seconds. This single is filled with street-smart lyricism and a cultural reference to Michael Jordan, which gives his music a contemporary edge.

One of the most exciting aspects of Anzû’s career is his growing list of international collaborations. He’s not just making connections in Australia but also connecting with talent from around the globe. Notably, his friendship with Ohio-based artist Ciano has led to creating over 5 songs together, and 50 unreleased tracks in the vault. This cross-continental partnership is helping bridge the gap between the Australian and American music scenes.

As an independent artist, Asta Anzû wears many hats. He’s the driving force behind his record label, Devils Sons Records, giving him complete creative control and the freedom to shape his career on his terms. This hands-on approach lays the groundwork for his future growth, with plans to expand his musical and commercial reach.

Looking ahead, Anzû is focused on experimenting with new sounds and aiming to become an artist capable of seamlessly transitioning between genres. He’s not confined to the drill scene—he’s ready to push boundaries, much like his idol, Drake. While live shows aren’t on the horizon just yet, fans can expect a steady stream of new music and collaborations, with whispers of visual projects in the works as well.

Anzû’s work ethic and attention to detail are at the core of it all. He describes himself as a perfectionist, constantly striving to deliver the best possible tracks. This commitment to his craft, combined with his intense passion for music, puts him in a prime position to take his career to the next level. Furthermore, his goal is to make music that connects with his audience. He wants listeners to feel his music on a personal level, whether they’re turning up or taking a moment to reflect on their own lives.

For those keen to give Asta Anzû’s music a spin, his tracks are available on all the major streaming platforms: Spotify, SoundCloud, YouTube, and Apple Music.

As he continues to grow as an artist, Anzû remains grounded, focused on staying true to his roots while constantly pushing forward. His journey from pandemic hobbyist to rising drill rapper is a testament to what can happen when passion and persistence collide. Anzû’s trajectory in the industry is definitely one to keep an eye on. As he puts it himself, “This is just the beginning,” and his best work might still be waiting in the wings. With a rapidly growing fan base, a clear vision for his future, and a slate of new music on the way, Asta Anzû is an artist worth keeping on your radar. The take-over is in full effect.
