Every now and then, there comes along an extraordinary musician whose life is as captivating as their music. Trickster, born in Austria and now a British resident, is one such artist. His life has been marred by broken homes, tumultuous childhood experiences, legal skirmishes and a brush with death. Yet, he continues to live, breathe and permeate music.
At a tender age, Trickster showed an audacious and ambitious streak by attempting to reunite his estranged parents. Though his passion for music was challenged when his admission to a music school was denied due to scepticism about his talent, he remained undeterred. From learning his first scales on piano at the age of 3 to solacing listeners with melodies in strip clubs by the age of 16, music was his unwavering force.
Throughout the tapestry of his life, Trickster donned many hats, each defining a distinct chapter in his tumultuous yet transformative journey. As a polyglot, he immersed himself in the cultural intricacies and linguistic nuances of 11 different languages, enabling him to converse effortlessly with people from all walks of life, breaking barriers and forging connections that transcended geography. His adventurous spirit soared to new heights, quite literally, when he trained and qualified as a pilot, navigating the vast expanse of the skies and gaining a unique perspective on the world below.
Yet, Trickster’s courage wasn’t only tested in the air. On the ground, he served as a soldier, confronting dangers and standing in defense of principles greater than himself. His commitment to duty and honor proved that his spirit was unyielding, capable of withstanding even the harshest of adversities.
However, life had its shadows, too. At the tender age of 18, Trickster found himself on the wrong side of the law, ensnared by unfortunate financial missteps that led to a brief period of challenges. While many would have succumbed to despair in such circumstances, Trickster viewed it as yet another chapter in his ever-evolving story, using the experience to foster resilience, introspection, and growth.
With a soul restless for discovery, Trickster traversed the globe, setting foot in an astounding 97 countries. Each destination added to his reservoir of experiences, as he absorbed their histories, cultures, and landscapes. From bustling urban cities to remote rural villages, Trickster’s footprints became synonymous with adaptability and exploration, leaving behind tales of his spirit and an indelible mark on the hearts of those he encountered.
A strong undercurrent flowing in Trickster’s life has been his philanthropic instincts. Through high-stakes dealings in Latin America’s oil and gas sector, he found the means to make a difference. In a remarkable act of giving back, nearly half of his income has been channelled towards helping those in need and sponsoring charity events.
Fate struck a daunting blow at him in 2017 when he suffered a life-threatening car accident in South France. As portrayed in his latest single, ‘Still Kicking’, not only did he lose all his physical assets in the fire that ensued, but he also was unjustly embroiled with the officials due to the loss of critical evidence. Defying all odds, Trickster emerged from the incident unscathed, a feat that left everyone astounded, yet marking another verse in the melodic journey of his life.
This ordeal strengthened his underlying belief in resilience and gratitude. An ardent lover of nature and mountains, he resolved to extend his aid to nature-related projects through his musical triumphs. In his pursuit to pay forward, he intends to establish the UK’s largest talent factory, offering guidance to those like him who lacked direction during their critical formative years.
His inspiring journey, a blend of resilience, adventure, and charity, finds its voice in his music, captivating global audiences. ‘Still Kicking’, the single produced by Guy Chambers, Richard Flack and Trickster, is a testament to his indomitable spirit. This release, on 19th May, is just the first in a series of eclectic recordings that celebrate the vibrant life of Trickster.
