Los Angeles Based Artist/Songwriter Abbey Scott is about to WOW you with her new single “Not Your Slave” which will be available on all Music Platforms Friday October 25th. “Not Your Slave” stands out showcasing Abbey’s edgy, rock vocals but keeps on brand with it’s infectious pop melody. I was able to chat with Abbey about her upcoming single and how it all came to be.
“Not Your Slave” was started many years ago but never finished. I started the song with Morgan Dorr and John Keefe that were both in the band “Boys Like Girls” at the time. We came up with this great idea for a song and the hook but never got around to completing it. I started working with Producer Aaron Liebman and I decided to go back and look at some of my songs that I never completed and “Not Your Slave” was one of them. Aaron was able to see the vision I had for the song with the gritty, pop/rock production and the song evolved to what it is today. I knew this song was something special and that’s why I never gave up on it. I knew I had to find the right team to bring it all together. Big shout out to Aaron who is the band Wilt and his bandmate Andrew Vance who mastered the song. Such a great example of Teamwork making the Dreamwork.
Abbey loves writing songs that not only resonate with her audience but gets stuck in their head. “I love writing infectious pop music but really I love writing all kinds of music. If you can’t stop singing my song, then my job was done.”

Over the years, Scott has built up quite a discography. She’s got three full-length albums under her belt: “Best Bad Idea,” “Rewind,” and an instrumental album called “Driven” that she produced herself. That’s not to mention her various EPs and singles, including a couple of Christmas tunes for good measure. You can find all Abbey’s stuff on the usual suspects – Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, you name it.
But “Not Your Slave” isn’t just another single for Scott. Word on the street is she’s got a whole album’s worth of material just waiting in the wings. Fans can get ahead of the game by pre-saving the single before it drops on October 25th.
Critics have been pretty impressed with Abbey’s work so far, calling her music “radio-ready” and “catchy as hell.” She’s even managed to snag a spot on Spotify’s Release Radar with some of her tracks. As Scott keeps churning out tunes for herself and other artists, she’s definitely one to watch.
