Time has always been humanity’s most precious and least understood commodity. French composer Vger seems keenly aware of this paradox in his latest album “THE SECRET OF TIME.” This thought-provoking collection weaves together electronic and new age elements across eight distinct tracks, running just shy of 38 minutes – though time itself seems to bend while listening.

“All music starts from images and each sound tells an image that everyone imagines,” Vger shared recently, perfectly capturing the synaesthetic experience his music creates.

Opening with “The Time Machine,” the album takes listeners on a journey through pivotal moments in history, imagining encounters with figures like Martin Luther King, De Gaulle, Winston Churchill, Gandhi, Neil Armstrong, and Einstein – each representing an unlimited wellspring of knowledge that a single lifetime couldn’t contain. In “Life Is A Counter,” an original rhythm unfolds life’s story, marking time through the precise moments that serve as landmarks in our existence.

The album’s centerpiece, “The Time Black Hole,” stretches to 10 minutes and 17 seconds of loud, contemplative music exploring the infinite power of cosmic phenomena. It poses an haunting question: does this chaos represent a gateway to parallel universes, or the end of everything as matter and time cease to exist? Meanwhile, “The Clock Repairer” illustrates a more intimate power – that of one who can manipulate our perception of time through their mastery of its mechanisms, perhaps even influencing our lives through their craft.

“Daytime Is Running” employs new wave atmospherics to examine how time constrains us, comparing our regimented daily rhythms to a predictable ketchup coulis, while asking what freedom might lie in breaking these patterns. This theme continues in “The Cesium Law,” where rhythmic compositions and mystical voices intertwine to question our submission to mechanical time – the omnipresent displays on our phones, TVs, computers, and public clocks – and suggests looking elsewhere, perhaps toward nature and the sun’s rhythms.

“Machine Clockworks Roboter” plunges listeners into a cold, metallic world where imperturbable rhythms induce a trance-like state, its infernal music painting a portrait of mechanical precision and robotic obedience. Yet the album’s scope reaches beyond mere technical exploration.

The final track, “The Secret of Time,” poses the album’s central question: what truly is the secret of life? It contemplates how time’s passage leaves its marks upon us, suggesting that the real secret of longevity and temporal experience might be found in life’s simplest truth – the love we share with those who journey alongside us.

‘THE SECRET OF TIME’ by Vger

“THE SECRET OF TIME” is available across all major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, and Amazon Music. Fans can also explore more of Vger’s work on his official website and YouTube channel. In crafting this album, Vger hasn’t just created another electronic music release – he’s provided a soundtrack for contemplating one of humanity’s most enduring mysteries.

Perhaps the true mastery of Vger’s work lies not in its technical brilliance or philosophical depth, but in how it reminds us that music itself is time made audible – a truth that resonates long after the final note fades into silence.
